Today is big with blessings.
Or at least, Good Things.

First, it’s about the dress.  Read the rest of this entry »

Today brought quiet to the house.  Last night’s tears are in the past.

The kids earned money by washing both cars.  The dogs had a good time playing with each other, and are a lot of fun to watch.

Everybody was out doing some thing or other today.  Spring fling at the elementary school, winter guard finals at the high school, and a big carnival near one of the local churches.  MidKid went to the carnival.  She had been looking forward to it for some time, and had set about earning enough money so she could spend and enjoy herself.

Today Daughter and MidKid went to the elementary school and assisted in the big Second Grade kite design, build, fly event.

Otherwise, we had a quiet day and supper together.

The dust-up that Hubs expected at work has been postponed, so that’s a good thing.

I’m falling behind on my One Good Thing a Day, so that’s a bad thing.  However, I am doing a pretty good job on revising my book, so that’s a good thing, right?

Hey, I’ll take it.  People who insist on getting One Good Thing a Day can’t afford to be too choosy.

Why did it take 24 boiled and dyed eggs to satisfy the hunting instincts of three children?  No idea.  The eggs were prettily colored and decorated, and were retrieved without damage.  All good.

Nothing against egg salad–I ate quite a lot of it in my youth because it was the cheapest thing on the menu at the drugstore where I worked. Read the rest of this entry »

Downloaded and read a new kind of literature.

Hmm.  Maybe not a new kind of literature, but certainly a new kind of literature delivery system.  This is a PDF format of what the author calls episodes but what I could call chapters of a book.

Today was a quiet day here, and after all the excitement of the weekend, that’s a good thing.

Must add that in the flap yesterday of hunting down the title to the RV, I found a few old pictures of Mom and Dad, and we also reclaimed several usable 3-ring binders.  We simple dumped the old papers (old college and post-grad classes, mainly) and wiped off the dust, and hey, bingo, new binders.  In our house, we can always use new binders.  And new binders for free is my One Good Thing for today.

Sunday I got down to the nitty gritty in looking for the title to the motorhome, because Mom kind of let the cat out of the bag, so I had to make good before my brother’s heart got broken.  Again.  God love him, he’s the sweetest person on earth.

It took all day, and there are boxes of papers sitting all over the den, but I found it!  Also found titles to the other vehicles, but, eh–who cares? Read the rest of this entry »

2010-0403

03 Apr

Saturday was a quiet day here at Casa Texanne. My sister is visiting from Port Arthur, and today she is spending the day with her daughter, who lives in Dallas. Don’t ask me where, because Dallas is like the Death Star, too huge to imagine and way too big to visit or try to understand. The Boxer Joe is out back with Catahoula Remy tearing up the landscaping. I kind of wish they had steering mechanisms, so I could point them to the jungle, the clump of trees with miles of ivy underneath. Love to be rid of that particular ivy patch.

Searching for the title to the motorhome. No joy yet, but still after it.

So, a quiet day, and my sister gets to be with her daughter, which doesn’t happen nearly enough. That’s a good thing.
